ELH 540: FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
What do you mean by "exceeding the criteria" of
the assignment with regard to the letter grade of A?
-
If you link your reflection to the Text, the Case Scenario,
and your Reflective Experience, you have met the minimal requirements
of the assignment. To exceed this, you must support your Reflective
Learning Task with additional resources (i.e. journal articles, books,
tapes, interviews, etc.) that adds to both the depth and breadth of your
reflection. These Reflections are due weekly and need to be emailed
to me (aviles@bradley.edu)
no later than Monday, 12:00 p.m.
How do we meet as a group for our team project?
-
Like other group projects in traditional classroom settings,
it will be important to meet and share ideas as a team. Unlike other
classes, you may wish to do this in a variety of ways in addition to meeting
over a cup of coffee, such as: arranging times to meet in one of the Virtual
Chat rooms, email, or communicating through Discussion Board. Remember
that your team project will be posted with encouragement for class member
feedback.
How do we post our project?
-
It is encouraged that you compose this in HTML (both
Netscape and Explorer have user-friendly composers) that will allow for
increased flexibility for your project (i.e. images, graphs, colors, animation,
etc.). NOTE: The composer in Netscape "writes" in HTML
and is much like a word processor for the internet. Its written script
can be read by any web browser. Here's a start: open Netscape
and click on "File" in the top left corner. A menu willl drop down
and you can click on "New", then "Blank Page". A blank page will
open on your browser and you can begin to type, just as if you were using
a word processor. Similarly, to save you just click on the disc icon
in the upper-left of the page and the program will save the file in the
directory or folder of your choice. You can then email the saved
document to me and I will post it on this website. I encourage you
to experiment with the menu options after "File". You can try using
one of Netscape's templates, just follow the directions at the top of the
template page. Another option is to use your word processor to create
a document, then save it in "HTML".
How do we track our progress in the class?
-
The course has a link to assist in monitoring your progress
in the class. This will be done by a confidential "pin code" that
will be emailed to you early in the class. Click
Here if you would like to go there now.
How much time will I need to spend at the computer?
-
There is usually a high learning curve early in the course.
Getting comfortable with the internet, your computer, and the flow of the
web course takes time at the computer. I have provided a substantial
amount of information in the "Orientation" section to assist in this learning
curve. Also, this web class will be changing and evolving throughout
the summer session. It will be important to check often for messages
on Hypernews, Announcements, class roster, and posting of team projects.
The final and summative assessment for the course will also be posted on
the web page. As you get more confident with your computer and web
skills, your efficiency will decrease the amount of time you will need
to spend in the course. Most stuents find, however, that this just
allows more time to explore and broaden their understanding of worldwide
web. Since this is where future counseling services is expanding
to, it my hope that you will grasp this opportunity.
