UTILITARIAN THEORIES
The Utilitarian theory states that people should be
concentrated on the betterment of society. Thus, focusing on the
majority of society and not so much on the individual. Seeing how
events and actions effect society as a whole for better or for
worse. When looking at the privacy issue, you end up having to
look at society as a whole even though it varies from individual
to individual. If people are severly raped of their privacy, it starts to
become a problem for everyone. The internet greatly contributes to the
problem with the lack of privacy in society today because of how easy it
is to access and download private documents, reports, etc of individuals.
Being that the government and companies have really been slacking in their
control of access to private files on the internet, it has started to
create a problem for many individuals, thus our entire society is
beginning to be effected. Privacy on the internet is starting to become an
increasing moral dilemma and as of now, the only way you can really
protect yourself is at home on your web sites by investing in encryption agencies which help to
keep access to your information down to a minimum through passwords and
such. But this is only individually, you still have a lot of your
documents and such which are handled by large companies and the government
and you have no control over they handle your information.
