What can Industrial Assessment Centers do for You?
Industrial Assessment
Centers provide energy, waste, and productivity assessments at no charge
to small and midsized manufacturers. Centers are funded through the
Department of Energy, Office of Industrial Technologies' Industrial
Assessment Centers(IAC) program.
Assessments help manufacturers maximize energy efficiency, reduce waste,
and improve productivity.On average, recommended actions from an
assessment result in annual cost savings of about $55,000. The assessments
are performed by local teams of engineering faculty and students from 30
participating universities across the country(refer to the following map
and list for a location near you).
Features of the IAC
program Who is Eligible? Small and medium-sized manufcturing plants in Standard Industrial
Classification Codes 20-39 are eligible.They should be located within 150
miles of a host campus and meet the following criteria to qualify for
these free assessments: What are the
Program Benefits? How Fast IAC Works
The university-based IAC team conducts a one day site visit and performs
an assessment.
Within 60 days, a report detailing the analysis, findings, and
recomendations is sent to the client. In six to nine months, follow-up
phone calls are placed to the plant manager.
