supports strength-based approaches with children and their families. many
of our services take place in clients' homes. Services are also available
through our residential program and our day treatment school. Many of the
programs place a heavy emphasis on Behavior Management and Family Systems
Theory.

interns must be fingerprinted through DCFS and cleared through the DCFS
Background Check. This must be completed before they can be left alone
with any of our clients. Interns are also required to have a physical and

built as a therapeutic inpatient milieu. The general philosophy is cognitive-behavioral.
In practice, we cover bio-psycho-social aspects, ranging from physical

Site Philosophy/Theoretical Orientation: Mended
Hearts Stable Equine Specialized Therapeutic Center, Inc. was organized
as a non-profit organization. Mended Hearts Inc, was organised exclusively
for charitable, benevolent, therapeutic, educational and agricultural purposes.
To wit, to provide, promote and support equine-assisted interventions in
the area of therapy and education for the purposes of contributing positively
to the emotional, cognitive and social well-being of people with emotional,
behavioral and social disorders to enable them to lead lives of quality
and dignity. Our interventions are designed following experiential,
metaphoric and reality based theoretic models. The therapeutic interventions
involve the use of horses both as a metaphor of unacknowledged fears and
for problem solving activities. We help our clients gain relationship
skills, increase their self-esteem, gain self-awareness while having fun
learning basic horsemanship skills. We have a Christ centered philosophy
and believe in a holistic approach to mental health.
