My world is still in the preliminary phase of development, so I have a long way to go.
The basic idea is that this is a world somewhere that is characterized by strange occurrences, people having wild mood swings, etc. It’s not exactly a good world. I’m not sure if it’s going to be a human world or not, probably not though. It doesn’t really matter for the purpose of the story. It turns out that this world isn’t really a real world in our sense of the word. It exists within the imagination of another being. This being is not a god or anything like that, but it is more sophisticated than humans. It’s more sophisticated in the sense that when he or she thinks something up, it isn’t necessarily just some electrical impulse thing. It can be, but this world the being’s created has something more to it. It’s more material in its form, but it’s still part of his imagination. Every thought, feeling, etc. that the characters have has been implanted by this being. Or, at least, that’s how it starts off.
At some point, it’s gotten pretty concrete in his imagination. The world is not something now that he could just destroy with his own will, even if he wanted to. It’s become too much a part of him. Eventually, a part of his subconscious, or something like that, takes over one of the characters or possibly becomes one of the characters. I think I’m going to call this character Hando, after one of my friends from back home. Hando somehow figures out that there’s something else behind this world. I’m thinking maybe that he figures this out through his dreams. Perhaps Hando’s dreams are a window to the conscious world of the being. He keeps seeing something in his dreams that leads him to believe that there’s something he hasn’t noticed before about the world. He probably figures out to a certain degree about this being shaping or manipulating the world. Since this world isn’t a great world, he organizes some other characters to do something about it. I’m not sure how he’s going to go about combating this being, either with war or something else. I think it’s gotten to the point where it may be extremely difficult for the being to create new form in this world, but he can still control much of the characters and form already in the world. However, he finds it almost impossible to control Hando and the other characters that work with him.
One of the problems I foresee with this story is keeping it to a reasonable length. I’ve thought about possibly starting somewhere in the middle of the war or struggle, or whatever I decide to make it. Then I would explain the origin through flashbacks or inner monologues from Hando.
