What is the IVFSC?
The
Illinois Valley Figure Skating Club, or the “IVFSC,” is a sanctioned club
member of the USFSA (The What?). Our Mission is to encourage and promote
participation in the sport of skating, both competitive and recreational. The Club achieves this through
education, communication, cooperation commitment and support.
Because
we are sanctioned by the USFSA, every
amateur skater who is a member of our club has the opportunity to compete in
competitions that may eventually lead them, if they are qualified, to the World
Figure Skating Championships and to the Olympics.
What is USFSA?
The
United States Figure Skating Association, or “USFSA” as it is more commonly
called, is the National governing body for the sport of amateur figure skating
in the United States. This
organization is affiliated with the International
Skating Union and the United States Olympic
Committee. Our Olympic skaters
are chosen only through USFSA-sponsored competitions.
