Problem #3

Justin is a 13 YO boy who is diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. You are a school PT who encounters a very angry young man. He reports he hates you and therapy and he is not doing anything you want. Justin tells you his older brother is the best baseball player in the school. After your "session" you observe that it takes Justin 8 minutes to ambulate 60 feet to the end of the hall.

Subjective:

• -Justin loves sports
• -Justin was originally Dx'd as a "clumsy child", the MD wasn't identified until he was 6 YO
• -Justin has two brothers, (one older, and a newborn)
• -Justin attends an old (facility-wise) public school and is enrolled in an age appropriate class

Objective:

• -Justin used the desk to rise from the floor
• -Justin displays trunk and pelvis instability during gait
• -Justin is unable to clear his scapulae from the floor during a curl-up
• -Justin's eye-hand coordination is outstanding
