Sam is a 42 y.o. United Parcel Service delivery man who presents with low back pain. He has undergone traditional physical therapy and now is involved in a work hardening program. Sam has worked for UPS for 24 years. He is also receiving treatment from a chiropractor. You are the physical therapist involved in his work hardening program.

Subjective:

• Sam has previous back history, including a fusion of T12 through L5 six years ago.
• Sam cannot initially return to work part days
• Sam verbalizes concerns re continued worker's compensation

Objective:

• Trunk ROM: moderately limited
• Strength: abdominal--fair+
• Gait: decreased cadence and step length on level, decreased WBing on right lower extremity. Ascension of stairs one step at a time, 3 minutes to climb 12 steps.
