Evan:
A Developmental Case Scenario

Evan is the 16 month old son of Bill and Sandy Wardman.  Evan lives with his family which includes his stepbrother, Andrew and stepsister, Miranda.  Sandy had a normal pregnancy and birth and at 8 weeks, Evan was place in a home day-care for 8 hours a day while his mother and father work.  His daycare provider, Elizabeth, also provides care for a two-year old boy, a four-year old girl and an infant.  Evan is mostly happy to go to daycare in the morning, and happy to return home in the
evening.  Lately, Sandy and Bill have been considering whether to have Evan attend a preschool for a few mornings a week.  Although here is a lot of love and attention at daycare, there is little structured learning activity.

Bill and Sandy have some guilt about having Evan in daycare, but at this point in their lives neither is willing to leave their careers to stay at home.  Evan appears to be developing normally, he is an intelligent, happy child.  Occasionally he will throw a temper tantrum when he doesn't get his own way, and has, on several occasions hit Sandy or Bill when mad.
