Description: The largest
dollar value construction project in the US ever
undertaken. The highways in the city of Boston were
essentially routed underground rather than above
ground. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: The project had billion dollar cost
overruns. Was engaged by Kiewit to quantity and
present multi million dollar lost productivity claim Significance
of Assignment: Highly visible and publisized project with
landmark type claims and lawsuits. Specific engagement
claim was successfully presented. |

2. Getty Museum
Project
Description: A unique, awarding winning $1
billion dollar project funded by the Getty trust that sits on the
top of a mountain overlooking LA and Brentwood California.
Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged by Harmon Contracting to
prepare and present a $26 million dollar change order to the Board
of Directors of the Getty Trust.
Significance
of Assignment: Using a detailed schedule analysis and
productivity analysis, the change order was prepared and presented
successfully. The Board of Directors approved the change
order for every dollar and the project was completed on time
and cost satisfaction of all parties

21. US Antitrust Department / Illinois / Tennesee Federal Highways Project
Description: A significant number of
separate
federally/state funded highway projects. The US
Antitrust
prosecuted several firms for bid rigging on the projects. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged by
the US Antitrust Department and FBI to quantify the financial loss
to the tax payer (both criminal and civil suits). Significance
of Assignment: Successfully
prepared cost method by which financial damages to government and
tax payers was determined. Based on the quantification of
costs, the US Antitrust Department recovered financial damages and
firms were prosecuted.

District Description: The
City of
Wheaton, IL engaged a CM firm that in turn engaged several separate prime
contractors. /font>Dr. Adrian
Engagement: Engaged by mechanical contractor to quantify lost
productivity. Had to use the total cost method to quantify lost
productivity owing to the inability to
use another method. Significance of Assignment:Courts to include
appeals courts approved cost method and calculated damages. Became a
precedent case as to what has to be done to use "total cost
method".

23. Hyatt Regency - Kauai, Hawaii
Project
Description: A multimillion dollar
resort was
constructed, leveled by hurricane Inigna, and subsequently
rebuild. Project was owned by Mr. Takana of Japan; one of
the wealthiest individuals in the world.
Dr.
Adrian Engagement:
Engaged
by Hawaiian Dredging and Construction Co.(Dillingham), to prepare
a $20 million dollar change order for changes and lost
productivity. After the project was destroyed by hurricane,
Dr. Adrian was engaged by HDCC to assist in defending against
alleged
construction defects.
Significance
of Assignment:
Successfully
prepared change order which was unexpectedly funded by
owner. Because of knowledge of construction methods used,
was successful in defending client against allegations of
defective construction methods that were alleged to be cause of
the roof failure. |

24. Malaysia Twin Towners-Kuala
Lumpur
Project
Description: Tallest building in World
(452 meters was completed in 1996 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Dr.
Adrian Engagement:
Engaged to provide
productivity program for project and productivity
training at site. Significance
of Assignment:
New productivity systems
were implemented for the construction of the project that
focused on productivity improvement and quick
identification of cost and/or productivity problems such
that corrections could be made. |

25. US Umatilla Weapons Depot /
Washington Group Project
Description: In Oregon, this large
incinerator structure was constructed to destroy U.S. chemical
weapons as per agreement in a US treaty. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Initially
contacted by Raytheon to quantify lost productivity claim owing to
changes (primarily piping). Did not conduct the
engagement. Subsequently after the Washington Group
purchased Raytheon, was engaged by Washington Group to
quantify
lost productivity for submittal of a change order to US government
(claim approximately $25M). Project was one of a half-dozen that
led to bankruptcy filing by the Washington Group. Significance
of Assignment: Difficult
engagement of preparing claim against government at the same time
that Washington Group was suing Raytheon for overstating claim at
time of purchase. Based in part on the work I conducted,
Washington Group and Raytheon were able to reach a
settlement. Many of these events were featured in weekly
articles in Engineering News Record and the Wall Street
Journal. |

26. Boston Deer Island Outfall
Tunnel /
Metropolitan
Water District
Project
Description:
A monumental difficult engineering project that had significant cost overruns. My
engagement was on the Outfall Tunnel that extends nine miles out
and 300 feet under the Atlantic Ocean.
Dr.
Adrian Engagement:
Engaged
to assist in the preparation of a $50Million dollar plus change
order owing to unexpected excess water flowing into tunnel which
required workers to work in mud and water.
Significance
of Assignment:
Engineering,
human factor type analysis conducted to determine added worker
effort required in order to substantiate the claim amount.
Industrial engineering type data and research used to quantify
lost productivity. My work was in part conducted in the
tunnel that was extended nine miles into the ocean.

27. The Earth-EPCOT
Center Walt Disney World
Project
Description:
A unique amusement type project that was the center of the new EPCOT
center in Disney World. The project was constructed by a general
contractor and coordinated by a national firm acting as a CM for the
Disney Corp.
Significance
of Assignment:
Based on construction
accounting expertise and productiivty expertise, engaged
to assist in the quantification and negotiation of chnage
orders for the project between contractor and project
owner. |

28. GM Van Plant Project
Description: New plant in Indiana
where
General Motors built vans. Plant included significant
painting equipment and processes. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: GM and
subcontractor had $4+ million dollar dispute regarding added costs
during construction. Dr. Adrian engaged by both parties to
serve as an independent arbitrator for a "binding
baseball" type arbitration. After hearing each case, both
parties submitted a sealed envelope with a dollar amount they were
willing to settle for and Dr. Adrian had to select one of the two
numbers. Significance
of Assignment: A
four million dollar decision that could not be appealed. The
process used, referred to as "baseball arbitration"
represented a rare form of resolving a significant dollar value
dispute. |

29. Mass Transit System of Los
Angeles
Project Description: Red
Line of Mass Transit System in Los Angeles. Owing to
difficulty of project and cost overruns, project gained national
attention. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged
by the County and City of Los Angeles to critique
multi-million
dollar claim filed by contractor team against project owner. Significance
of Assignment: Initial
work found areas of duplication in claim. Subsequently, the
contractor was convicted of filing false construction claims on
the project. National attention to include ENR coverage was
given to the project and the false claim. |

30. New Orleans Exhibition Center Project
Description: Construction of a major
convention and exhibition center in New Orleans. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged
by board set up for project to author request for proposals for
Construction Manager and to develop selection criteria matrix for
engaging the CM firm. Significance
of Assignment: This was
the first of several engagements Dr. Adrian had to assist major
owners of new construction projects in identifying the optimal
project delivery system for the construction of their projects and
to assist the firm/organization in engaging the firms to construct
the projects.

31. Phoenix Science Museum and City of
Phoenix Project
Description: An award winning concrete
design project constructed by
large general contractor. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Owing
to the unique wall designs, the concrete forming was unique and
caused significant productivity problems and cost overruns.
Engaged to prepare multi million dollar productivity analysis and
present results to a Contracts Dispute Board. Significance
of Assignment: Prepared
detailed analysis of lost productivity per worker per impact issue
per time period. Was used successfully to have Contracts
Dispute Board rule in favor of client (Sundt Construction). |

32. Class Action (Public Schools vs
Grace Chemical, etc) Project
Description: Schools were combined into
class actions against major chemical projects for financial
damages related to the removal and replacement of asbestos tile in
the floors and schools throughout the country. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged
by national chemical companies to develop a formula that reflected
prior benefits of flooring systems as an offset against removal
and replacement costs. Significance
of Assignment: Formula
proposed was used in court as a means of settlement between
claimants and defendants. |

33. TQM for Federal and Illinois Department of
Transportation Project
Description: Two year program of designing a
program of continuous improvement and defect elimination to
improve material certification process and other processes within
the State of Illinois Department of Transportation. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged
to design, train, and implement Total Quality Management for
the entire Illinois Department of Transportation to include
all nine districts. Significance
of Assignment: The
TQM program designed and implemented by Dr. Adrian is given credit
for enabling the Illinois Department of Transportation offset
decreased budgets and a smaller staff with increased productivity.
The implemented program was a precedence for how state government
can improve efficiency. |

34. Nutecilli Water Pipe Line Project
Description: A five plus mile pipeline for
the private water company in Springfield, Missouri constructed by
Journagon Construction. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged
to prepare a detailed expert analysis of lost productivity owing
to changes and unknown site conditions. Significance
of Assignment: In
a jury trial in Springfield, Missouri, a jury awarded each and
every dollar presented in the prepared claim. However, the
judge took the unusual step to staying the jury decision.
The judges position is being challenged in the courts.

35. Belleville Dam (Guy F. Atkinson) Project
Description: Project dam be constructed by
a contractor that was in business for many years and had
national reputation. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged
to prepare multimillion dollar change order to be submitted
to MetropolitianWater District. Significance
of Assignment: While at
the project performing work, with key management personnel of the
firm, national news announced bankruptcy of the publically traded
Guy F. Atkinson firm. Illustrates how contractor failure can be
sudden and unpredicted regardless of the longevity of the firm. |

36. Valuation of Construction Firm
-Highway Firm Project
Description: A large heavy and highway
contracting firm. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Determine
the value of the large heavy and highway firm to include
appraising a large equipment fleet and valuing the personnel and
backlog of construction work. Significance
of Assignment: Financial
valuation used for purposes of bonding and the basis for
settlement of a divorce proceeding. Valuation was
significant in that it provided a model for valuing construction
equipment. |

37. Oceanside Waste Water Treatment
Plant- San Francisco Project
Description: The new wastewater treatment
plant won national design awards. The high tech plant was
constructed adjacent and under the San Francisco zoo. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged
by the city and county of San Francisco to evaluate construction
claims filed by two electrical contractors on the project. Significance
of Assignment: Based
on claims filed against the owner, the claims were judged to
be inappropriate. Based on analysis performed, the
electrical
contractors withdrew their claim requests.

38. Washington Public Service Power
Plant(WPPSS) Project
Description: Nuclear power plant in state of
Washington that was not completed owing to massive cost overruns;
the largest municipal bond fund default in the history of the US. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged
by PDM to quantify financial loss owing to non-completion of the
WPPSS nuclear project. Significance
of Assignment: PDM
and claim prevailed in court but was unpaid owing to the
fact that
project and project owner declared bankruptcy prior to completion
of project.

Power Plant Project
Description: Power Plant and constructed by
large industrial contractor. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged
to analyze the lost productivity incurred during the project owing
to acceleration and schedule slippage into winter construction
time period. Significance
of Assignment: Stone
& Contractor filed bankruptcy during the construction of
the
project. Another national firm pruchased failed
contractor and project during the project. The claim to
include the productivity claim was presented to an arbitration
panel.

40. Symons Forms Corporation Project
Description: On-site analysis of numerous
building and industrial projects on which Symons forms were used.
At the time, Symons was the largest concrete forming company in
the world. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Productivity
studies of Symons Steel-Ply Forming systems to determine their
competitiveness and cost advantage versus wood forms; aluminum
forms, and various competing steel-ply systems. Significance
of Assignment: Became
national productivity spokesperson for Symons forms. As a
result of work Symons Forms Corporation switched their marketing
program from twenty year effort of marketing reuse of forms
to productivity of forms; i.e. they are cheaper to erect. |

Description: Large project in Charleston SC entailing numerous precedent setting legal issues Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged to quantify all financial damages related to multiple issues on extremely
complex and long duration legal issues Significance
of Assignment: At the time (late 70's, early 80's) this was a highly visible, complex legal issue
involving humdreds of lawyers, and experts. The length and complexity led to legal and expert fees that were greater than the initial construction dollar
budget (just to resolve the construction issues on the project) |

Description: New water treatment plant in St Louis area requiring difficult forming methods Dr.

45. Six Flags Theme Parks Project
Description: This engagment entailed all Six Flags Theme Parks; at the time of the engagement, nine separate theme parks
were owned by Six Flags (owned by Bally Industries at the time) Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Engaged by Bally Industries (Six Flags) to review construction operations at all theme
parks with the objective of setting out procedures for independent parks to use that were centralized and consistent throughout the firm. Significance
of Assignment: Prime example of how the use of well defined procedures (example of TQM and Six Sigma) can
be used for continuous improvement and improved quality and profitability |

Description: Have given over 3,000 seminars/presentations world wide at national conventions, conferences, and in-house for
construction firms, designers, and project owners. Have given in-house seminar for 268 of the largest (ENR list) general contractors in world. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Majority of the seminars/presentations have been on Dr Adrian's international expert
known topic of Construction Productivity Improvement. Other seminars/presentations have been on Construction Estimating, Scheduling, Claims Management, TQM,

Description: Either a single individual or as team of three, have arbitrated or mediated 200 construction disputes/law
issues as both a local and national arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. Dr.
Adrian Engagement: Cases cannot be listed owing to confidential arbitration agreement. Cases have ranged
from multi million complex construction cases to relatively small ($50,000) real estate and construction industry cases. No award given by Dr. Adrian has ever
been overturned in the court system. Significance
of Assignment: One of the most experienced AAA arbitrators and mediators in regard to longevity- have
served for more than 30 years. |

Description: Have been a full time Civil Engineering and Construction professor at a university each and every year since
1968. Dr.
